my thought's > well if he'd copied official releases...maybe...but i doubt it. There may come a day when *they* go after some sites (like the Napster trip) but bt.etree does not allow the streaming of official releases. I feel safe torrenting shows there, but who reeeealy knows?? My paronoia comes and goes like smoke rings...

Sounds like a load of B.S. to me. 1st of all a year? Give me a break! Any time - give me a break! I don't think anything has even ever become from HIGH profile stuff much less the GD. Also - what the hell would anyone do to someone who was DLing for their own use? Even if the guy profitted from it I don't see actual time. Sounds like someone trying to garner some sympathy to get something to me.

Fully agree with unclejohnnyd in that someone is trying to pull a sympathy fastone. Sorry, i can't even see community service as punishment. A fine, yes, and a hard-drive wipe, but time? Nyet.

Pirated commercial releases used to be found on European BT sites that were busted recently over there. The closest thing to a bootleg CD on the etree Community Tracker are those unreleased Dicks Picks leftovers. Dick Latvala circulated them openly; when a new picks came out.

It was never OK to make illegal copies of a Grateful Dead release and sell them on the streets, period...
